Version with fixed fonts. We decided to mark it v1.01 rather than v2 ~~to be silly~~ in hopes of making it as clear at a glance as possible that this uses the same script as the 1080p v1.

Happy April Fools' Day! For this year, we decided to release the final Rebuild of Evangelion, having never released a single Evangelion episode or movie ever before! Being a 150 minute movie with almost 2,000 lines and like dozen or so songs (though most are in English), this is our most ambitious April Fools' release yet (and will almost certainly get to keep that distinction, because there's no way we're ever doing anything this difficult for April Fools' ever again), and it's been in the oven for a long time. We began on-and-off work on it a couple years ago (so long ago that Scenik8's v2 wasn't out yet) after telling each other that this was not a wise project to take on and after a while being like "okay but wouldn't it be epic if we did it though?", and intended on releasing it last year, but it was nowhere close to done come last March so we shifted gears and put out something else. As is customary for us, the only joke is that we released something completely out of left field. This is a release we took as seriously as all our other releases. This is also our first 4K release!
This release is a retimed TLC and edit of what we considered the best available sub, Scenik8's TLC and edit of the official subs for the movie, with typesetting both original and borrowed--you can tell very easily what was borrowed from the styles. We worked off Scenik8's v1, but once we found out there was a v2, we cross-referenced it to borrow from its corrections where needed. Both 2.0 and 5.1 audio are included (encoded from TrueHD to FLAC).
Some specific things we opted for:
- In addition to the Japanese songs, all the songs with English lyrics are subbed (which was something of a last-minute decision because so many of them are really hard to hear, but we had time and figured it was worth doing). However, the Latin song is not.
- We used spoken name order and honorifics, and spellings like Gendou and Touji rather than Gendo and Toji.
- We tried our best to keep the many recurring words and phrases as consistent as possible throughout the movie (and to reflect when they used variants and abbreviations for recurring terminology). We especially put a lot of thought into omajinai, which went through several iterations before settling on "gesture" as the most satisfactory option. Tangentially, we poked through a few Japanese Bibles before making the final determination on certain terminology, which was Unit-00 (fishing)'s favorite part of working on this release.
This sub is also available in [1080p](https://nyaa.si/view/1954607)!
We may or may not sub more of Eva someday, but if we do, it won't be anytime soon. Once again, Happy April Fools', everybody!
